Crater Lake National Park is located in the Cascade Mountains, southern Oregon. The caldera is 6 miles wide and 8,000 feet tall. It houses the lake. The lake is sparkling in breathtaking blue hues near the bottom of the crater, which is 500 to nearly 2,000 feet deep. It may be the most breathtaking view you’ve ever seen. There are a number of great hiking trails along the caldera and the bike ride around the rim is one of many must-do lists. A guided boat tour will take you to Wizard Island. This caldera is accessible via a hike down to the lake. The Santa Lucia Mountains rise abruptly from the Pacific at Big Sur, California’s midcoast. The misty valleys are home to giant redwood forests, making these some of the North America’s most well-known coastal views. There are three fine state park campgrounds here-Andrew Molara, Pfeiffer Big Sur, and Julia Pfeiffer Burns. The last one is likely to be one of the state’s most unique camping experiences. There are two campsites at the camping area. It’s located above McWay’s drop of around 80 feet to the sand below. It is possible that you’ll be able to observe whales from the comfort of your camper or hear the sound of the surf. The Tetons located just north of Jackson, Wyoming, are not the most imposing mountains in the world but they could be its most recognizable and photographed range of peaks. Grand Teton National Park is famous for its abrupt pinnacles. However, Jackie Skaggs, ranger claims that there are other attractions like the huge fauna (from bisons to Grizzly bears) and excellent outdoor activities, including climbing mountains, hiking, fishing or kayaking on one of the park’s lakes or the Snake River. One of the most popular camping spots is located at Jenny Lake; you’re close to the summit of the Tetons with stunning views and are close to the main trail system. The Dry Tortugas are seven small islands due west of Key West. Loggerhead Key is the largest at the size of 650 acres. This may be the most difficult-to-reach national park in America, as there’s only one way to access it, which is via a daily ferry. The Dry Tortugas have turquoise waters for snorkeling, swimming and powdery white beaches that are perfect for relaxing. Fort Jefferson is also located here, which dates back to 1846. Unguided and guided tours are offered. Adirondack Park covers more than 6 million acres in northeastern New York State. This encompasses a large portion of the region between the north and west of a line that would run from Albany to Utica. It’s a unique blend of state-owned private lands, private lands wilderness areas, and over 100 small towns with 42 4,000+ feet of peaks along with 3,000 lakes, ponds and lakes and 30,000 miles of rivers that are whitewater and flowing trout streams, as well as 2,000 miles of hiking trails. Many visitors mix and match rafting trips and canoe trips with hikes because of the close proximity of mountains and rivers. Cape Breton is located in the northeastern part of Nova Scotia’s Canadian Maritime Province. A distinct island, Cape Breton is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the east and the Gulf of St. Lawrence to the west. It is blessed by tree-covered mountains with deep river canyons and cliffs steeply falling into the ocean. It is often regarded as one of the most beautiful islands. The highest camping area in Europe, at more than 6,000 feet. Pigne d’Arolla’s views of Aiguille de la Tsa and Mont Blanc de Cheilon, are stunning. Arolla is a great starting point for day hikers as well as more serious mountain climbers. Pas de Chevre is a favorite hike that climbs to over 9,400 feet. It also affords spectacular views of the Matterhorn. As you make your way up the mountain there is a chance to spot chamois, a member of the goat-antelope species, springing from rock to rock. Raclette du Valais is a Swiss cheese made from cow’s milk. It’s eaten with gherkins and onions. The southernmost island of New Zealand is known for its mountains, fjords , and thrilling outdoor pursuits. Even though the beauty of Abel Tasman National Park are smaller in scope, they are still spectacular. At the very top of the south island Abel Tasman National Park is known for its golden sand beaches, imposing rock-strewn shorelines, river estuaries and lagoons filled with crystalline waters. The shoreline is bordered by dense forests that stretch into the ocean, creating a striking contrast of blue, green, and gold. Fur seals are prevalent along the park’s northern coast. Farther south, there are blue penguin rookeries, the smallest of the penguin family. Human beings have never felt more disconnected from nature in any point in human history. In America alone, close to eighty percent of the populace is now living in an urban area. Many of us suffer from «nature deficit disorder,» as Richard Louv described it in his 2005 book Last Child in the Woods. Camping gives us the opportunity to tackle the issue of nature deficit disorder on a personal level. It is a chance to escape the rigors of daily living to more peaceful and tranquil surroundings.
